Daniel Foster
Coach and Academic Writing Specialist
Daniel became a department chair because he was tired of all the “no” and wanted to be the “yes” faculty need to achieve their big goals. With 30 years’ experience as a writer, teacher, and administrator in the US and Europe, he believes in fostering an international, interdisciplinary culture where everyone is welcome and new ideas thrive. At Johns Hopkins' Peabody Institute, he teaches an innovative class where students create the syllabus: “What Can Music Do for Us?” His writing on music and culture has appeared at Paris Review, THES, and Smithsonian. He is based in Maryland and is especially interested in working with interdisciplinary scholars, administrators who publish, and male faculty and administrators working to make academia a more inclusive and supportive environment.
