Julia is an award-winning author who helps writers manifest the change they want in their lives. She combines an undergraduate degree in psychology with graduate work at U of Iowa’s Center for the Book and a Ph.D. in library science to support others in both the emotional and practical aspects of academic writing. Her most recent book, Our Fermented Lives: A History of How Fermented Foods Have Shaped Cultures and Communities, was a top pick at Salon and Smithsonian Magazine. She is always looking for ways to build communities and to help others, from being an expert witness in court to supporting sexual assault survivors. Julia divides her time between Atlanta, Georgia and Cork, Ireland and especially enjoys working with early career faculty, LGBTQ+ writers, and academics with a creative approach to writing.
